Cris Plata: From Fields to Stage

Cris Plata was born in South Texas, the son of migrant workers. Cris spoke Spanish and heard Mexican music played by his family and friends.

He learned to play the guitar,accordian, and mandolin when he was five. Today he writes his own music, performs songs in English and Spanish.

Cris' band, Cris Plata and Extra Hot perform across Wisconsin. He will share some of his experiences with hardships from poor working conditions,

low wages, and racial discrimination and how his music interests helped him through some trying times. Cris was featured on Wisconsin Public Radio

and Wisconsin Public Television. Cris will also perform some of his songs. Join us for an interesting and entertaining evening.

Caring For God's Creation: A Realistic Look at Climate Change

Wednesday, May 17 at 7:00 p.m.

 

Bob Lindmeier is Chief Meteorologist at WKOW-TV, member of St. John's Lutheran Church in Oregon and a member of the

Synod's Care for God's Creation team. Bob uses his many years of experience as a scientist who has closely followed the

problem of climate change to offer education on the following:

 

  • Causes of global warming

  • Impacts of global warming in Wisconsin and the United States

  • Consensus in the scientific community

  • What is needed to crate positive change

  • Taking responsibility as people of faith

This will be an interesting and informative meeting led by one of the premier meterologist in Madison. Cost is free. Please bring along a nonperishable

food item for the Middleton Outreach Ministry Food Pantry.
