3 years ago, St. Luke’s and the Middleton Senior Center partnered in a program that had an emphasis on participants who were experiencing “early onset memory loss“. The group quickly renamed themselves the “Forget-Me-Nots” and became a family of volunteers and friends, participants and care partners. The meetings are all about conversations, brain games, exercise and music, accompanied by plenty of laughter and support. Then along came COVID-19, putting the gatherings on hold, but the connections remain strong. The volunteers continue to communicate by phone calls, emails, letters, and by visiting from a safe distance as they walk through neighborhoods and hallways. They are looking forward to when they can safely meet again but until then will continue to stay connected and discover what the new normal will be. They miss those very special times together.
Red Cross Blood Drive
The Red Cross Blood Drive that was held at St. Luke’s on June 18 collected 79 pints! That’s huge right now as hospitals are starting elective but necessary surgeries again, and other needs for blood continue. Thank you to all who donated or helped. The next Blood Drive is Tuesday September 15, 12noon to 6:00pm. Sign up on the Red Cross website or call Julie Houg 608-445-6596
We are looking for people who might have flowers in their garden that they’d like to share with St. Luke’s during our online worship each week. They would need to be dropped off at church on Wednesday. Call or email Julie Murray to schedule a date, or 831-6084.
Thank you to all who continue to support the church in every way. If you desire to give financial support, you may do so through automated giving, envelopes mailed in or delivered to church, or Secure Giving through our app (St. Luke’s Middleton) or our website HERE. We included a pew offering envelope in our recent mailing, or there are offering envelopes mailed quarterly. Our address is 7337 Hubbard Avenue, Middleton, WI 53562.
MOM Backpack Program
St. Luke’s has been a part of the MOM backpack program for many years with school supply donations as well as MOM using our space for packing and distribution. This year MOM will not be taking physical supplies, but still plan to provide 500 backpacks filled with supplies for students elementary through college age youth. Instead of providing the physical supplies they need monetary donations. The cost of the program is approximately $18,000.
There is a daily devotion (Monday-Friday) that is available through the Website, App, and Facebook. This helps us stay connected in our faith and have a common experience.
If there are needs for pastoral care with which we could help, or you would like to talk to one of the pastors or lay staff, please contact the church office (831-6084) during normal business hours (8:30 to 3:30 Monday through Friday). You may also leave a voicemail message.
We offer a Communion Service alternative. It is an offering of a special gift of God in a new way in response to an unprecedented situation requiring distancing. If you would like to participate, follow the link on the website inside a specific online service to “Communion Instruction And Liturgy.”
