Many Western Christian practices involve and revolve around words. Singing, reading, speaking, even intercessory prayer. Faith in words is helpful and useful. But Silence, contemplation – allowing time for listening can be a rich and grounding addition to Christian prayer life. Centering prayer is a way to hold space for holy encounter in silence and contemplation. You might find it to be easy, you might find it challenging. But there is no failure. There is no unsuccessful practice there is just your centering prayer practice. Space patiently held for holy encounter.
