"Remember those in prison, as though you were in prison with them."
~ Hebrews 13:3
For over 50 years, Madison Area Jail Ministry (MAJM) has been serving the spiritual needs of men and women who are incarcerated in the Dane County Jail.
As spiritual caregivers, MAJM accompanies people on the painful but necessary journey of reclaiming their lives and re-authoring their stories as beloved children of God. MAJM prays for a just, safe, and compassionate legal system that recognizes the power of people to transform their lives and communities.
16,000 men and women come through the jail in Madison every year, on average 600 there per day, many of whom seek and find hope and life through MAJM.
Through a ministry of presence, MAJM Chaplain Todd Marcotte and a team of dedicated volunteers provide weekly worship services, Bible studies, support groups, tutoring, and connections to community resources for re-entry once they return home.
