Opening Hymn

“I Love to Tell the Story” - Hymn #661

Psalm 31:1-5, 15-16

Leader: In you, O Lord, I take refuge; let me never be put to shame; deliver me in your righteousness.

Cong: Incline your ear to me; make haste to deliver me.

Leader:  Be my strong rock, a castle to keep me safe, for you are my stronghold.

Cong: Take me out of the net that has secretly been set for me, for you are my tower of strength.

Leader:  Into your hands I commend my spirit, for you have redeemed me, O Lord, God of truth.

Cong:  Let your face shine upon your servant; save me in your steadfast love.”

Hymn

“Give Me Jesus”

Leader:  The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, the love of God, and the communion of the Holy Spirit be with you all.

Cong:  And also with you.

Prayer of the Day

Leader:  O Lord God, we gather this evening to recognize your power and presence in the lives of these young people.  Not only have you sustained them with your never-ending love, but you have been there in their times of joy as well as moments of sorrow.  You have wiped their tears, offered them direction and purpose, and bestowed on them the gift of your Holy and ever-present Spirit.  Grant, O God, to each of these graduates, the gift of knowing that they are loved by you so that they might go forth with confidence into the future.  Bless their families also as they give them the freedom to fully grow into that future.  And all God’s people said loudly…Amen!

Holy Gospel: John 13:33-35

Little children, I am with you only a little longer. You will look for me, and as I said to the Jews so now I say to you, ‘Where I am going, you cannot come.’ I give you a new commandment, that you love one another. Just as I have loved you, you also should love one another. By this everyone will know that you are my disciples, if you have love for one another.”
