Daily Inspiration - August 6: Daylight

When I was in college and working for Crossways Camps in the summer, I spent my week off running around Lifest. I loved checking out new bands, and came across Remedy Drive at the Edge stage where I usually hung out. It was likely the punk rock energy (throwing instruments, and jumping off pianos) that first caught my attention, but the melodies and lyrics drove it home for me. I ran over to the merch tent after the show to meet the band and pick up their CD.

Fast forward to 2020, where I have been finding myself in a lot of conversations around “inspiring hope”. Not only that, but like many others in the past months, I have been searching for hope myself. It was after one of these conversations with some of the staff at church that the songs from this album started running through my head.

“The brightest stars are falling down, Is hope lost in the black skies.

The darkness must precede the dawn, Wait with me here, Till the sunrise.”

I looked up the band’s YouTube channel to find that they had recorded a version of this song during the pandemic from their own homes. Watching them brought me back to that summer of music. It brought me back to memories of the camp and being surrounded by a wonderful faith community. It brought Hope. The sun is will rise again. Daylight is coming.

Lord, give us the strength to endure the darkest of nights so that we can see your light in the morning. Amen

“Daylight” Remedy Drive

Has everything you've counted on

Left you right here,

With no warning?

Have your dreams become invisible?

Wait with me dear,

Till the morning.

Light will make the night burn out,

Hold on,

Daylight is comin',

To break the dawn.

Daylight is comin'.

The brightest stars are falling down,

Is hope lost in the black skies.

The darkness must precede the dawn,

Wait with me here,

Till the sunrise.

Wait, your night will soon

Fade out.

Hold on,

Daylight is comin',

To break the dawn.

Daylight is comin'!

Hold, on

Daylight is comin'...

Daylight is comin'!

Hold on,

Daylight is comin',

To break the dawn.

Daylight, is comin!
