How St. Luke’s Foundation Sustains Ministry for Generations

It’s easy to miss the quiet heroes of church life. The behind-the-scenes people and processes that make vibrant ministry not just possible, but sustainable. One of those quiet heroes at St. Luke’s is the St. Luke’s Foundation.

Established in 1994, the Foundation was created with long-term stewardship in mind. Its purpose was to carry St. Luke’s vision into the future, funding ministries and projects that might otherwise fall outside the operating budget.

“There’s no shortage of requests coming in right now,” said Andy Roquet, chair of the Foundation. “ It’s fantastic. It shows there’s a need for things to be done!”

Faded and outdated, St. Luke’s has a new exterior sign thanks to the St. Luke’s Foundation. The new sign was developed to include a changeable seasonal banner, illumination, and maintains the original brick structure.

This year alone, the Foundation has funded everything from major infrastructure repairs to fresh ministry ideas and even community-building moments. A new air handling unit. Repairs to the church roof. Outdoor signage. A computer for video ministry. An updated gathering space behind the church. A Brewers trip for seniors. Specialized Stephen Ministry training. In total, nearly $70,000 in grants, and each one supports meaningful projects that fall outside the regular church budget.

“We want to make sure our regular giving supports the everyday life of the church,” said Andy. “The Foundation was created by forward-thinking members, funded by generous donors, and sustained by many Foundation Committee members over the years.  I would like to recognize and thank all of these people for their dedication and support, for we would not have our Foundation without all of them. Giving through the Foundation gives people a chance to go over and above. To leave a legacy and make an impact.”

If you feel called to support the Foundation or are curious about serving on the team, you can reach out to Andy Roquet or Jeanette Yoder in the church office.
