A Summer Full of Connections

When summer hits Wisconsin, routines slow down and many of us embrace the all-too-short season while we have it. Around here, many other programs are put on pause. But while those routines rest, the energy in the building and beyond continues to grow.

Youth on the Move
Our youth have been busy this summer traveling near and far. From camps to service trips, our students learned what it means to be Alongside each other, our neighbors, and the Holy Spirit through discussions, games, and reflections. One of the highlights of the summer was the high school mission trip to Colorado. Youth and adult mentors spent the week serving communities and learning how to embody God’s love through action. Robbie Spofford, Director of Youth Ministries, led youth on over 4000 total miles in mission and connection. "Their faithfulness and loving kindness was inspiring to everyone. All of them truly grew as disciples of Christ,” he shared.

A Road Trip With God
This year’s Vacation Bible School took us on a “Road Trip with God”! Over 120 children filled the building across two packed weeks. From a petting zoo and UW vet student visit to a tour of the Police Department, every day brought discovery. Throughout it all, children learned about God’s presence on every mile of life’s journey. We are especially grateful for the more than 50 volunteers who helped bring VBS to life.

Senior Ministry: Treats and traditions
Meanwhile, our senior ministry embraced connections with some beloved summer traditions of their own. In June, 35 participants boarded a bus for the annual trip to the Brewers game, complete with shaded seats and signature treats. “Everyone gets homemade cookies and scotch-a-roos,” shared Kris Sonnentag. “It’s kind of a big deal!” Beyond the ballpark, the summer picnic drew a joyful crowd for a potluck and music led by Jeff Rohlwing. Members of the senior planning committee grilled all the meats, and the rest of the community came together with an incredible spread of summer classics.
As summer winds down, we give thanks for the miles traveled, the songs sung, and the memories made. Whether you’re 6 or 106, the journey of faith continues into the fall, and it’s better when we walk it together.
