I used this message below for the Stephen Ministry 2019 Advent calendar pertaining to a time in my life when I needed God but couldn’t find my way to Him.
“God isn’t only in church”
During the most difficult time in my life, after losing our daughter in a horrible auto accident, I found it very difficult to go to the church where she was married and then had her funeral only a year later. My brother told me “God isn’t only in church”.
So, I decided to connect with God through nature. I became a runner and found God all around me by the lake, near the trees, and in the sounds of nature with the birds chirping...He was with me...all around me and I truly felt connected with Him and comforted by His presence.
I feel this is apropos at this time of COVID-19 when we are unable to gather in our church. WE CAN STILL FEEL GOD EVERYWHERE.
