The book of Proverbs has much to say about intellect and wisdom. The difference between the two? In short, intellect is knowing many things, wisdom is understanding how to use our intellect in making good decisions in our lives.

What a gift our intellect or intelligence can be! But just knowing things without understanding how to apply it to daily living leaves us wanting. โFearโ in this passage does not mean โbe afraid ofโ, but rather means โrespecting.โ Respecting, being willing to learn wisdom from our Lord and being guided by the Holy Spirit, takes our intellectual accomplishments and helps us use them in love toward our God and toward each other.
In life it is not how much you know but how much you love and care for those around you. Remember the rich young ruler hearing from our Lord sharing the greatest commandments? โYou shall love the Lord your God is all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your mind andโฆ. love your neighbor as yourself.โ Matthew 22:37. To live successfully, learn all you can while loving and caring for yourself and others extravagantly! When wisdom attaches itself to our intellect healing takes place.
